The Russett SHARKS Swim team is one of more than 40 teams that compete in the Prince-Mont Swim League. Participant registration takes place each spring and is open to any Russett resident between the ages of 5 and 18 with a valid community pool pass.
Though helpful, experience is not necessary. Our intention is to help each participant develop aquatic skills, the principles of good sportsmanship, and teamwork. Put simply, every swimmer is encouraged to do their best, improve their abilities and have fun.
Practice begins immediately after Memorial Day and takes place at
the pool (weather permitting) Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 6:00
p.m. for swimmers ages 5-7, 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm for swimmers ages 8 -10 and from
6:45p.m. - 7:45 p.m. for the rest of the team. The team participates in 5
competitive dual-meets and other recreational swim meets in the months of June
and July. Qualifying swimmers also compete in three additional meets
traditionally held in July.

2011 Season Recap
For the fourth time in the past six swim seasons the
Russett Sharks Swim Team were crowned Division Champions.The Sharks finished the 2011 summer swim
season with a 5-0 record and won the Prince Mont Swim League Division D
title.The undefeated season also marked
the sixth straight season with a winning record.
The Sharks opened the 2011 season with a narrow 3
point win over the Roger Carter Seals.Then came three straight wins inside the Sharks Tank: a 92 point margin
over the Pointer Ridge Porpoise, a 21 point victory over the Smallwood Village
Marlins, and a 100 point differential against the New Carrollton Dolphins.The last dual meet of the season featured a
battle of the Sharks, with the Russett Sharks pulling out a 31 point win over
the Fort Washington Sharks.
Along the way, numerous team and pool records were
broken, and for the second straight year the Sharks won the Prince George’s
Council Knights of Columbus Mini-Meet, a meet that features several swim teams
whose swimmers are 10 years old and younger.The season culminated with 18 Russett Sharks qualifying for the Prince
Mont Swim League All-Star meet.
